Join Team Dave for a one-way ride to reservoir country! We’ll start at a subway station in the northern Bronx to maximize our range and to minimize city riding, and we’ll follow a mix of paved roads, paved rail trails, and country lanes up to Putnam County, crossing bridges over various branches of the Croton Falls and New Croton Reservoirs. We’ll stop for lunch along the way, and we’ll catch a Metro-North train back to the city from Brewster at the end of the ride.
The terrain is mostly rolling, with several hilly sections mixed in. The full ride is 54 miles with 2,500 feet of climb, but there are train stations along our route at miles 23, 25, and 43 if you want to duck out earlier.
Team Dave training rides don’t have a designated lead or sweep, so all riders should have a paid account on Ride with GPS and should be comfortable with self-navigation. We keep an average moving pace of around 13 mph (level C), sometimes a bit faster (C+), and we tend to regroup every few miles.
Join us this Saturday for a great training ride and beautiful lacustrine scenery!
