What is The 275 Challenge?
The 275 Challenge was created at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic as an opportunity for the Cycle for the Cause community to virtually support The Center and its work, during a time when our participants weren’t able to physically ride or crew from Boston to New York. Its name pays homage to the 275-mile trek our participants take each year, and since 2020 it has built an online network of Center supporters who challenge themselves for 275 miles, minutes, or repetitions in solidarity with one another. This year, though our in-person Cycle for the Cause has returned, we still want to keep The 275 Challenge tradition alive!
How do I participate?
With no fundraising minimum or registration fee, participation in The 275 Challenge is quite simple! Register as a virtual participant online, choose an activity for your personal challenge, and then get ready to ask your friends and family for their support.
The sky’s the limit for what you can do. You could cycle 275 miles over several days or weeks, run or walk 27.5 miles around your hometown, or create a challenge unique to your interests such as baking, knitting, painting… Regardless of what challenge you set for yourself, you will help raise crucial funds for The Center’s HIV and AIDS services and programs. You can even track your progress publicly on your fundraising page, so everyone can see how you’re crushing your goal!
When does The 275 Challenge happen?
No matter how you choose to participate, you can complete your personal challenge any time before Cycle for the Cause concludes on Sunday, October 1.
Is there any in-person component to The 275 Challenge?
If you happen to be in NYC on Sunday, October 1, we would love for you to join us at the Cycle for the Cause Closing Celebration. All are welcome to join us to cheer on our Riders and Crew as they finish, to recognize your accomplishments, and to celebrate as we unveil our final fundraising total. Virtual participants who raise at least $275 will also receive a victory shirt and access to our Victory Garden at the Closing Celebration.
